Greetings from District Clerk Cheryl Jones and the team members of the Brown County District Clerk’s Office, located at 200 South Broadway, Suite 216, Brownwood, Texas 76801. Our phone number is 325/646-5514 and our facsimile number is 325/646-0878. Our office is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Brown County is situated 7 miles from the geographical center of Texas.

Our goal is to promote public confidence and good will by providing the very highest level of courteous, efficient service. Further, to insure the highest possible degree of integrity of the County’s records and management of records along with the business practices in a uniform, consistent and accessible manner.

Cheryl Jones was appointed as Brown County District Clerk on June 30, 2014 to fill the unexpired term of her predecessor Jan Brown. Cheryl was elected in November, 2014 as the Brown County District Clerk. She resides in Brown County where she has lived since 1988. Jones is a member of the Texas County and District Clerk’s Association, Texas District Court Alliance and Texas Association of Court Administrators. She is also a Certified Court Manager.

The Texas Supreme Court mandated Brown County begin e-filing in criminal matters by July 1, 2019. We are excited to announce that we are now accepting criminal pleadings through e-file. Our office will be unable to accept filings over the counter for criminal matters after June 28, 2019. Pro Se litigants are not mandated to e-file and over the counter filings will be accepted.
